Pastor of Discipleship
Brief info
Ryan began in the role of Pastor of Discipleship here at HBIC on March 1, 2022.
Ryan grew up in the Harrisburg Area, a proud graduate of East High (’07). He then went on to Lebanon Valley College, during which time he became connected with Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church. For the better part of 12 years he belonged to that congregation, and served as Youth Pastor, Worship Director and Teaching Pastor over the course of his time there. Palmyra BIC was instrumental in cultivating in him a heart for the Church at large, and a passion for the values and particularities of the BIC.
In 2013 Ryan met Ashleigh, a native of Long Island, at a mutual friend’s wedding. They hit it off immediately (thanks in no small part to his dance moves out on the floor) and were married in 2015. Ryan and Ashleigh attended Princeton Theological Seminary together, both graduating with ministry degrees, and have carried their passions for ministry and serving others into their married life together. Ashleigh is currently working as a school-based therapist with CSG in Susquehanna Township School District, where she counsels and supports K-5 students. They have a 4-year old daughter Naomi, who (almost) always lives up to the Hebrew meaning of her name: pleasantness. Truly, she’s an incredibly pleasant, friendly and joyful little girl, and Ryan and Ashleigh are beyond blessed by her. As a family they enjoy reading, trying new foods, being in nature, and spending time with their friends. As individuals, Ashleigh is passionate about music, documentaries and the beach, Naomi loves legos and Gabby's Dollhouse, and Ryan likes to read, write, watch the Sixers and play board games.
Ryan and Ashleigh are both excited and grateful for this opportunity for him to serve with HBIC in this role. Ryan is passionate about Discipleship; for him, seeing people grow in Christlikeness as individuals and as a Body is the most important thing there is – the “whole enchilada”, some might say. HBIC has been a tangible expression of the love of God to their family. It’s humbling to be further invited into the life of the church in this way, and they are eager and excited to see what this next chapter holds!
