Brief info

After moving to Harrisburg for retirement in 2012, Sheldon and Marietta began attending HBIC and
joined as members because they resonated with its multi-cultural, diverse, urban ethos within the
Anabaptist theological tradition. Their three children are graduates of Messiah University. With
Marietta, Sheldon volunteered in Children’s Ministry, Food Pantry, ELL teacher, Classics committee, and
leading small group discipleship Bible studies. They served in cross-cultural missions in Taiwan and East
Asia with Mennonite Mission Network (MMN) and its predecessor agencies for 47 years including study
and home assignment leaves. In Taiwan Sheldon served in evangelism, church planting, seminary
teaching, mentoring and mission administration. In 1974 he was ordained by the Taiwan Mennonite
Church. From Fuller Theological Seminary, he holds M.A., M.Div. and Ph.D. (Missiology) degrees. For
twelve years Sheldon was Director for East Asia under MMN and was privileged to serve on international
mission boards (Mongolia, China) and Taiwan Mennonite Church and hospital boards. After retirement
from MMN in 2009, the Taiwan Mennonite Church direct-hired Sheldon as their General Secretary for
two years to cast vision and promote Anabaptist teaching and publication.
